Tasks of duties and responsibilities

  • Developing standards for the operation of water and wastewater facilities and monitoring their compliance at the provincial level.
  • Developing energy standards and remote control systems
  • Working with provincial water and wastewater companies to determine appropriate water consumption patterns and water saving plans
  • Monitoring the good execution of operational instructions and standards in water and wastewater companies
  • Adoption of necessary guidelines on urban water quality and safety and ongoing monitoring of their application in water and wastewater companies.
  • Developing the criteria for the sanitation of water facilities and resources and monitoring their application.
  • Developing operating procedures for laboratories from the sampling stage to reporting the results and monitoring their implementation.
  • Continuous awareness of the health and chemical status of drinking water and also the status of wastewater.
  • Working with provincial water and wastewater companies to tackle water pollution crises
  • Conducting studies to reduce water outflow and non_revenue water, as well as controlling recurring bills and analyzing its causes
  • Monitoring the optimization of energy consumption in companies
  • Establishment of a regulatory system that aims to set up a larger_scale operation system (client, consultant, contractor, pricing list).

Tasks of duties and responsibilities

Deputy for steering and supervision of operations
  • Participation in the development of standards and national laws relating to the quality of drinking water and the disposal of wastewater.
  • Developing water control and quality improvement guidelines and wastewater disposal practices based on national and international standards
  • Cooperation with other governmental and non_ governmental organizations in water quality and safety related activities (cross_sectoral cooperation )
  • Processing and analyzing statistics and information of water and wastewater quality control department in order to prepare necessary reports and guidelines to water and wastewater companies.
  • Carrying out periodic inspections of water and wastewater companies and monitoring the performance of water quality control units
  • Monitoring the activities of water and wastewater companies and providing consultative services in areas such as :
    A. Preparation of regulations and standards for determination of water quality and monitoring of water resources
    B. Water and wastewater quality control in water and wastewater treatment plants
    C. water quality control in distribution networks
    D. Development and equipping of water and wastewater laboratories
  • Consulting and providing guidance to water and wastewater companies in resolving water quality crises
  • Evaluating the annual performance of water and wastewater quality control units
  • Supervision and implementation of water supply, transmission, treatment, and distribution optimization plans
  • Supervising the preparation and implementation of plans for improvement and upgrading of operation and maintenance of water facilities
  • Monitoring the implementation of guidelines for the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater facilities and provision of some instructions
  • Contributing to the ratification of projects and purchase of equipment for water supply projects, taking account of operational experiences
  • Working with groups supervising the operation at the provincial level in order to gain efficiency by using appropriate methods of preventing the waste of energy and money
  • Conducting adaptive studies to set standards for the operation of water facilities
  • Conducting periodic site visits and audits of water facilities and collecting and analyzing all facility operation data, in order to identify and evaluate water facilities and to improve operating procedures.
  • Monitoring the safety of water facilities
  • Supervising the preparation and implementation of plans for improvement and upgrading of operation and maintenance of water facilities
  • Collecting and analyzing wastewater networks and treatment plants' operation data for better understanding, evaluation, and improvement of operation methods
  • Improving the level of operational knowledge and transfer of experience in operation of wastewater facilities through holding specialized conferences and workshops
  • Commenting and collaborating on the approval of wastewater projects, and ordering and providing of specific equipment to incorporate operational experience in the approval of wastewater projects.
  • Conducting adaptive studies to comply with the standards of operating water facilities
  • Monitoring the implementation of guidelines for the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater facilities and provision of some instructions
  • Monitoring the way sewage systems are managed through local visits
  • Monitoring the safety of sewage facilities
  • Scientific contribution in holding sewage conferences
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of the required standards for using different types of subscriber meters based on different climates (climatic conditions, water quality, corrosion, etc.) of the country
  • Participation in setting and developing standards for water loss reduction
  • Conducting studies to develop principles, concepts, and infrastructure required to reduce water losses
  • Cooperation in network modeling and hydraulic analysis of urban water distribution networks
  • Monitoring research plans aimed at reducing non_revenue water in water and wastewater companies
  • Contributing to the preparation and compilation of important indicators and parameters for comparing and evaluating water flow meters on different sources of water supply.
  • Gathering information needed to estimate water losses and establishing a databank for unaccounted and non_revenue water through the information submitted by water and wastewater companies.
  • Reviewing and analyzing companies' periodic information, identifying their strengths and weaknesses, and providing corrective action.
  • Giving reports on non_revenue water and how it is reduced and dealt with in different provinces
  • Supervision and steering of GIS activities in water and wastewater companies
  • Investigating and monitoring the status of water distribution network, subscribers, events, network topographic maps and isobars
  • Cooperation in mechanization of incident systems ( e.g. GPS)
  • Identification and introduction of new technologies to reduce real loss and apparent loss
  • Preparing leak detection instructions, and instructions on how to fix and resolve the problems, replace broken meters, draw base maps for water pressure gauging and network isobars and modeling and its hydraulic analysis
  • Conducting visits and audits of non_revenue water reduction activities
  • Implementing regulations , standards, and guidelines of crisis management and passive defense issued by the National Water and Wastewater Engineering Company
  • Adopting passive defense principles in studies, and in the design and implementation of water and wastewater projects to prevent and reduce hazards.
  • Cooperation in monitoring water quality and quantity provided for the crisis_stricken regions of the province.
  • Creating and developing systems for effective crisis prevention and seismic retrofitting of buildings , facilities, networks, and transmission lines
  • Preventing the construction of high_risk facilities in highly_populated places, removing them from cities, and predicting safety measures for those installations whose existence is necessary
  • Creating a comprehensive information management system for early warning of incidents in water and wastewater facilities and accurately informing authorities and people at the time of the incident
  • Conducting applied research and implementing its results in the field of crisis management and passive defense especially in identification of new technologies for safe disinfection and purification of water in order to replace them with gas chlorination systems
  • Localizing management software and eliminating any risk of data network intrusion
  • Holding workshops , seminars, conferences, and scientific research and training field trips, related to crisis management and passive defense in order to improve managers, experts, and employees' level of technical knowledge
  • Submitting a daily report of different working groups' performance and water supply conditions in affected areas to crisis management and passive defense headquarters
  • Documenting unexpected and fortuitous events happening in the company and sending it to the relevant authorities
